Ži’e1997 By: Tsukasa Jun Details: Tsukasa's 1997 collection is his thickest self-published work to date (as far as page count). The first quarter or so of the book consists of color pages, and the rest is made up of black & white and halftone manga, sketches, lineart, and illustrations. The overriding theme throughout the book is fighting games, and pretty much all of what's here - aside from several Sengoku Blade and Hot Gimmick-related illustrations - is fanart. Street Fighter and King of Fighters characters figure heavily here, as well as Darkstalkers, Soul Edge, Resident Evil (always a favorite), and Rival Schools. There are several excellent Neon Genesis Evangelion-related illustrations here, too, coinciding with the theatrical release of End of Evangelion. And as with 1999, this contains some of his more risque work released to date. Physically the book is the same thickness as the heavy TB1999, but it's printed on lighter stock and has a more traditional semi-gloss cover. Print quality is as crisp and colorful as ever.
